But in today\u2019s hyper-connected India, peer pressure begins shockingly early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a 2019 study by Child Rights and You (CRY), <strong>32% of children aged 10\u201313<\/strong> reported feeling pressure to behave a certain way to &#8220;fit in&#8221;. This pressure can be about brands, gadgets, gaming, or social media trends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Recognise Early Signs<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sudden changes in behavior, obsession with fitting in, or hiding things can be red flags. If your child goes from cricket to pretending to like PUBG \u201cbecause everyone plays it,\u201d that\u2019s social influence at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Teach \u201cChoice Muscles\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Role-play \u201cwhat would you do if\u2026\u201d scenarios. Help them build the inner script to say no, or to walk away \u2014 skills that make them resilient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Build Self-Worth at Home<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The more secure and valued a child feels at home, the less likely they are to seek approval outside. Celebrate uniqueness \u2014 \u201cIt\u2019s cool you don\u2019t like what everyone else does.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Don\u2019t Mock Their Friends<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Criticizing their circle can backfire. Instead, ask about group dynamics, what makes a good friend, and what pressures they face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Normalize Mistakes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If they cave once, don\u2019t shame them. Talk it through. Let them know courage isn\u2019t about never giving in \u2014 it\u2019s about bouncing back stronger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your child doesn\u2019t need a bubble. They need a toolkit.
