GUWAHATI PUBLIC SCHOOL

As early as 1982, a team of dedicated persons of Guwahati thought of starting an English medium school under the Affiliation of Central Board of Secondary Education from class I to class XII with the aim of the harmonious development of the child and blending them in all modern creative thoughts of education. Late Bidya Dhar Sarma, a retired Education officer of C.B.S.E. was the main initiating force. His meeting with the Late Indira Miri, the Late Renuka Devi Borkataki and the Late Pankaj Dhar Barua, men of resources, Philanthropists, and lovers of Education solved the problem of starting an English medium school in the city.

Thus in February 1982, the GUWAHATI PUBLIC SCHOOL, one of the wings of the 'Assam Adarsha Vidyalaya Sanstha' registered under the Registration of Societies Act XXI of 1960 (No. 1449 of 1981-82) was started in a rented house at Bamunimaidam, Guwahati with Late B.D. Sarma as its Principal. The school was subsequently shifted to its permanent site at Panjabari within greater Guwahati city on a Hilltop surrounded by the ever-green forests and scenic beauty of hilly ranges aloof from the din and bustle of the city. The location of the school besides natural beauties provides desired educational environment.

The School provides three Mega R.C.C. buildings on a plot of land of 5(five) acres for classrooms, a Library, Laboratories, Staff rooms and office rooms. The patronage of the philanthropist of the city made the institution flourish from strength to strength in all dimensions. Due to its meritorious results and numerous activities for the all-round development of personality, its enrolment touches thousand by now.

The school by virtue of its status and position succeeded to secure affiliation of C.B.S.E. early in 1988 to Secondary Education and Senior Secondary Education in 1992.
