In 1968, the school was started in a small way and formally founded in November 1970 by Late Dr. Mrs.Kamala Ghosh in rented premises in Jodhpur Park. She named the school Auntie Edith's School. Later it was renamed in memory of her late husband Mr. A.K Ghosh who was the Founder and Secretary of the School.
A co-educational English Medium Kindergarten Primary School which grew from strength to strength into a Junior High and High School. In 1999 it became a Higher Secondary School. The success rate was 100% and no one got below the second division.
The aims and objectives of AKGMS are to provide education by encouraging academic excellence and to create ample opportunities for the all-round development of students.
