BIRLA HIGH SCHOOL

Our vision encapsulates the aspirations of our founder, the late Syt. L.N. Birla an eminent thinker and a renowned industrialist. He founded Hindi High School in 1941 with the aim of imparting an education that would combine the best of Indian thought along with western techniques. In 1997 Hindi High School was rechristened Birla High School, marking the beginning of a new era of growth and development, in keeping with global trends. Students who fare well in high school are eligible to apply for admission to our college i.e., JDBI (for B.Sc.(Hons) in Food Science and Nutrition Management, Textile & Fashion Technology, Interior Designing, Human Development, B.Com.(Hons) and BBA) which is situated in the campus.

Birla High School has been recently ranked 2nd in the country in the All Boys Day School Category by Education Today and Education World respectively. First in Kolkata amongst the CBSE schools. In June 2019, the school was also certified at the House of Commons, London as a ‘Great Place to Study’. The school was declared as ‘The School of the Year’ by The Telegraph Education Foundation for the session 2022-23. In 2025 again we were recognised at the House of Lords, London for Educational Excellence.

The school has been awarded also for “Providing Quality Education in Eastern India” by Asia Today and several other accolades such as “Leading School of Central Kolkata” by Economic Times Industry Leaders East 2024, Education Excellence Award in National School Awards, 2024. The Times of India has also ranked Birla High School as the top CBSE school in Kolkata for three consecutive years.
