Joseph day School was founded by Mrs.Lucy Yusuf in 1960 at Suresh Sarkar Road. The first principal was Mrs.F.Lord, it was only a kindergarten school.
After this Mrs.V.Wainwright joined the school and is considered the longest-serving principal, under her guidance the school experienced its maturity. Mrs.Das took over the school and was then shifted to its present address. at this stage the present principal Mr.Shahnawaz took charge in 1993, and since then the school has viewed some remarkable changes. The school has now till class X and admits students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds in all communities.
