BRIEF OF THE SCHOOL

On the 11th of April 1988, a dream was realized for the people of Kolkata in the sylvan surroundings of Behala. Under the guidance of the well-known philanthropist and industrialist Shri Madhav Prasadji Birla and Smt. Priyamvadaji Birla, M. P. Birla Foundation Education Society, a non-profit Coeducational Institution, established the M. P. Birla Foundation H. S. School on James Long Sarani, Behala, Kolkata.

 

The school, with a present strength of approximately 3000 students, is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. The first batch of students appeared for the Indian School Certificate (ISC) Examinations in the year 1988. Since then, every year, the students continue to come out with flying colours not only in the board examinations but also in All-India competitive examinations, thus ensuring their place in the premier institutes for higher studies.

 

The quiet environment and verdant greenery of the school provide the right ambiance for a “Shiksha – Ashram”.

 

An all-rounded system of education has helped M. P. Birla Foundation H. S. School to produce an ever-increasing list of alumni who have made a name for themselves in diverse fields.

 

MPBians have made a mark in the fields of medicine, scientific research, sports, music, engineering, etc and are found all over the globe.

 

Following the motto of “Vidya Dadati Vinayam,” the primary aim of the school is to impart and lay emphasis on sound moral education, values, principles, skills and knowledge and thereby encourage students to strive for excellence in all fields of endeavour. The system of imparting education is a perfect blend of tradition & modernity. In keeping pace with modern technology all 37 classrooms are smart classes. WIFI connectivity on every floor facilitates online and hybrid classes whenever required. The school offers Science, Commerce and Humanities streams at the plus two level and conforms to 5+3+3+4 {5 (LKG, KG, UKG, classes I & II) + 3 (classes III to V)  + 3 (classes VI to VIII) + 4 (classes IX to XII)} structure as per the NEP(2020). In the field of extra- curricular activities, the students of this institution have brought several laurels to the school.

 

MENTOR

The school is, perhaps, the only institution in West Bengal that provides “Mentors” for weak students who are under their guidance and supervision. They help the child to overcome his/ her weakness by assisting the child both inside and outside school hours. These mentors are the teachers of the school, and if required, they visit the homes of the students to understand their problems and solve the same.

This is the first school in India to be awarded the ISO 45001:2018 Certificate by the British Standards Institution in the month of August 2019. Our school management is committed towards maintaining Occupational Health & Safety for its students, teaching & non-teaching staff, parents /guardians & for visitors. The school conforms to all guidelines given by OHSAS to maintain safety & hygiene of entire school premises.
