About Us

In 1963, the Late Rev.(Dr.) D. Mark Buntain saw the need to provide good education to the children who did not have any school to attend. The Assembly of God Church School, Kolkata opened its doors on 20th January, 1964 with 230 students and 16 teaching staff. James Elloy, the then Deputy Secretary of Education presided at the opening. The purpose of the school was to provide high standard of education under Christian leadership. It served the children of the Christian community and other communities. The guiding principle and disciline of the school is based on Christian teaching.

For selection of students this is the motive of the school - that all underpriveleged children shall have the preference of admission and assistance. A Special Unit for children with dyslexia and other learning disabilities was opened in September 1992. This caters to special needs of the children and helps them to rejoin the mainstream education. The Senior school also includes the National Open School which enrolls students for Bridge / Foundation, Secondary and Senior secondary courses. This began in 1993 and was given affiliation by the National Open School, New Delhi in 1994. The Assembly of God Church Educational Programme in West Bengal now comprises 18 Educational Institutions, Vocational and Training Colleges "Building a better india by building better boys and girls".
